The Prince George Cultural Awareness Program

Prince George Regional Correction Centre

 

PGUAJS has entered into a 2017-18 contractual agreement to provide Aboriginal inmates with culturally relevant support services that will:

·         Assist clients in the understanding of aboriginal based cultural practise to increase awareness to assist with spiritual and cultural connection with the intent to assist in rehabilitation to reduce recidivism rates

·         Promote and facilitate cultural activity by modelling counselling and cultural based teachings

·         Provide services including Elders, and leaders to assist with clients and management with education and understanding

This support is offered three times a week to inmates.  Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, with content associated with the Seven Teaching:

Respect - Love - Honesty - Truth - Wisdom - Courage - Humility
